Guided by the expertise of Miss Ally, a seasoned potter with 16 years of education and experience in the world of ceramics. What You Will Learn: Week 1 - Foundations of Wheel Throwing: • Introduction to the basic construction of the pottery wheel • Understanding essential clay terminology • Techniques of wedging clay • Hands-on experience with centering, opening, pulling, and shaping your first pottery piece • Proper care and maintenance of your wheel and workstation Weeks 2-6 - Progressive Skill Development: • Each subsequent class builds on the skills acquired in the previous session • Exploration of various shapes achievable on a pottery wheel • Learning to trim and refine your creations • Techniques for pulling handles and attaching elements to your pottery pieces • Basics of stoneware glazing for a personalized touch Class Inclusions: • 6 sessions of 1.5-hour classes, each expanding on the prior week's lesson • One 25-pound bag of high-quality stoneware clay • Bisque firing of all pots made during the course • Stoneware glazes for creative expression • Finish firing for a polished and durable final product • Clay studio membership for the 6-week class duration, providing additional practice opportunities and skill enhancement outside of class hours Note: Attendance for all six weeks is mandatory, as each session builds upon the last. Unfortunately, makeup classes cannot be accommodated due to the progressive nature of the curriculum.
