Our COVID-19 Response

Mr. Toad’s Pottery owner and staff have adopted a reopening 4 phased plan based on the planning and guidelines from the Allegany County Health Department, the State of Maryland, the CDC and CCSA. The studio's phased plan to re-open will progress in accordance with the safety and health guidelines set by the State and ongoing assessments of studio staffing, facility, resources and supplies. The studio's primary motivation in adopting this plan is to maintain the safety of the studio patrons and staff while finding ways to provide fun and creative services that the studio is uniquely positioned to perform.

Phase I of the plan is already in motion, starting May 18th: offering pottery to go kits to walk in customers. Customers will be greeted at the door, asked to wash or sanitize their hands. While wearing masks they may make their pottery and paint selections, while they wait their pottery to go order will be packed up for them to take home and complete at home. When finished they may bring back their painted items to be fired by dropping them off in our contactless red cart in the 24/7 monitored corridor.

Phase II will begin May 25th: in studio painting by reservation. Customers may make their reservations online at pottery2go.com for Monday (12-6), Wednesday (12-6), Friday (12-8) & Saturday (12-8). Appointments must be made or cancelled 12 hours in advance. Studio will not be open to walk ins at this time. The studio has gone through a transformation and a deep cleaning to prepare the space for 50% capacity. The studio ask's that 75% of the artists at the table are painting and creating. This will make the most of the studio space that is allowed to be open. What a customer should expect when they walk into for their appointment:

  • Greeted at the door and asked to wash or sanitize their hands

  • Be seated at their table and explained the new studio procedures 

    • Masks must be worn with out of seat, they may be lowered or removed while sitting to paint

    • Touch only pottery that is to be selected to paint

    • Follow flow arrows on floor

    • All paint and art supplies need to be left at the table for proper cleaning & sanitation by staff only

    • Wash hands after finished painting

    • Contactless checkout at the register

 

Phase III will begin on September 1:

  • Walk in and Reservations may be made for studio painting 

  • Open studio times are Monday & Wednesday 12 to 6, Tuesday & Thursday 12 to 5 and Friday & Saturday 12 to 8

  • The studio is still operating at a 50% capacity

  • Paint events and classes have resumed 

  • Here is what to expect when arriving:

    • Greeted at the door and asked to wash or sanitize your hands​

    • Seated at your table, which is 6 feet apart from a neighboring table

    • Given a studio tour

    • Masks are to be worn while walking around the studio

    • While seated at your table, if you feel comfortable, you may take down your mask

    • Touch only the pottery and supplies you will paint and use

    • All paint and supplies need to be left at he table for proper cleaning and sanitation by staff only

    • Wash your hands after you are finished painting

    • Checkout through our contactless register

Phase IV will begin on October 1st:

  • Walk in and Reservations may be made for studio painting 

  • Open studio times are Monday & Wednesday 12 to 6 pm, Tuesday & Thursday 12 to 5 pm, Friday & Saturday 12 to 8 pm and Sunday 12 to 5 pm

  • The studio is operating at a 75% capacity with 6 feet between tables

  • Paint events and classes have resumed 

  • Here is what to expect when arriving:

    • Greeted at the door and asked to wash or sanitize your hands​

    • Seated at your table, which is 6 feet apart from a neighboring table

    • Given a studio tour

    • Masks are to be worn while walking around the studio

    • While seated at your table, if you feel comfortable, you may take down your mask

    • Touch only the pottery and supplies you will paint and use

    • All paint and supplies need to be left at he table for proper cleaning and sanitation by staff only

    • Wash your hands after you are finished painting

    • Checkout through our contactless register

Phase IV adapted will begin on November 23rd:

  • In Studio Painting as well as Take Home Kits are available

  • Walk-in Studio Painting is Open Monday through Sunday 12 to 5

  • Reservations are Required for Painting Monday through Saturday 5 to 8

  • The studio is operating at a 75% capacity with 6 feet between tables

  • Paint events and classes have resumed 

  • Here is what to expect when arriving:

    • Greeted at the door and asked to wash or sanitize your hands​

    • Seated at your table, which is 6 feet apart from a neighboring table

    • Given a studio tour

    • No Drinks or Foods are allowed in studio

    • Masks are to be worn the ENTIRE time you are in the studio

    • Touch only the pottery and supplies you will paint and use

    • All paint and supplies need to be left at he table for proper cleaning and sanitation by staff only

    • Wash your hands after you are finished painting

    • Checkout through our contactless register

Finished fired pottery may also be picked up during our walk in studio hours.


Orders for Pottery2Go kits also be placed online for studio pickup or delivery within 10 miles of the studio. Contactless pick up of finished pottery may still be requested by filling out this form
